Continued from here"What did you do?"Giles spun around and saw Angel standing in the doorway. He looked from the vampire to the dead man on the floor. "I did what I had to," he quietly said before he sat the knife down on the table. "No one else was going to do it.""What happened to 'We don't kill humans'?" Angel asked.Giles felt his anger boil over when Angel used his own words against him. He wanted nothing more than to call another weapon over and kill the vampire, but, he couldn't. "He tried to kill my wife and unborn daughter. Of course, that's something you wouldn't understand...not being a father yourself," he said as he started for the door."You'd be surprised," Angel merely before stepping out of the way.Giles gave him a strange look and then moved out of the room and to the nearest bathroom. He was still feeling some of the leftover energy from the small spell he'd cast so he took a couple of deep breaths, and splashed his face with cold water. He couldn't let Fred see him like this. When he finally made his way back to medical, he slipped into the room where Andrew was. Fred and Spike were sitting on either side of the bed. "How are you doing, Andrew?" He asked as he approached the bed.The younger man looked deathly pale but he still managed a smile. "I feel like my insides are cooking...but besides that, I'm good," Andrew whispered."Thank you for saving Fred's, and the baby's life," Giles said as he took Andrew's hand and squeezed it. He could feel his throat tightening up and he took a deep breath."Thank you for letting me get on the bus and not kicking me off and letting me work for you, Mister Giles."Giles smiled at that. "It was my pleasure," he said before released Andrew's hand. He moved over to where Fred was sitting and sat down beside her. He then pulled her into his arms and held her tight. It was going to be a long night.
Fred was glad when Rupert came back to Andrew's room, wrapping her arms around him when he pulled her to him and holding him tight. Part of her wished that they weren't there, that they had taken Andrew somewhere else, but she knew that they couldn't. The Council still didn't know what they were doing, and they didn't dare call the others to let them know what was going on.They kept watch over Andrew throughout the night as his condition worsened, his skin hardening, his fever raging. He started babbling, talking about - and to, apparently - someone named Warren, who Rupert and Spike both seemed to recognize. Andrew kept asking him why he had listened to him, why he had made him do the things he had done. He kept saying he was sorry. It was getting toward morning, and Fred didn't know how much more of this she could take. She wanted to run from the room, find some place to throw up, but she wouldn't leave. She couldn't. She owed it to Andrew to stay - he had saved her life and the baby's life. After dabbing his forehead with a cloth, she grasped his hand. It was so hot and hard."Never told you, Spike," he started murmuring. "Never told you.""Told me what, mate.""I love you."Spike looked over at Fred and Rupert, then back down at the prone young man on the bed. "I know, mate. Always have."Not that long later, Andrew feel silent, his chest stilling, and the monitor over his bed going into flatline. Letting out a sob, Fred turned to Rupert, burying her head against his chest. Andrew was gone.A moment later, his body started convulsing.
Giles had wanted to take Fred out of the room during the night, but, they needed to stand there for Andrew's sake. He had saved Fred and the baby's life and Giles didn't know if he could ever repay the young man. And when morning came, and Andrew awoke for the last time, Giles felt his throat tighten."Goodbye, Andrew," he whispered as he reached over to close the young man's eyes. But, before he had the chance to, Andrew went into convulsions. They were strong enough to push Spike back so Giles quickly stood and pulled Fred to the other side of the room.He watched in horror as Andrew's fell off the bed. Giles was about to move forward when Andrew stood, but it wasn't Andrew. It looked like Andrew but it wasn't him. Giles looked at the thing in front of him as it examined its hands and body."This will do.""What in the bleedin' hell?" Spike said as he looked at the demon."Illyria," Giles hissed.Illyria turned and looked at him. "A mere human dares to say my name?" it asked. "When I ruled the Earth, humans were nothing more then things for which I played with.""Time's changed," Spike said as he lunged himself at Illyria. It quickly knocked him against the wall."Half-breed. Why is this shell attached to you?" It asked Spike."Fred," Giles said as turned to look at his wife. "I don't think you should be here right now."
Andrew was blue.Standing next to the door where Rupert had pulled her when Andrew had fallen off the bed, Fred stared in horror at what had happened to him. He was blue all over - his eyes, his hair, his neck, his hands. If she hadn't seen him moments before, she would have thought someone had spray-painted him, but she knew that this wasn't anything like that.Andrew had been possessed by a demon. Fred felt her throat tighten painfully almost to the point where she couldn't breathe. That could have been her. That could have been her, but it wasn't. It was Andrew. Andrew was dead, and there was a demon using his body and voice. When Illyria struck out at Spike, Fred found herself crying out and jumping forward, even though Rupert stayed in front of her. When he said her name and told her that she shouldn't be there, it suddenly turned, looking at her and tilting its head."I hear two heartbeats from within you, but you are not demon - I would smell it. You are in gestation. A human breeding. I murdered gestating females to keep your kind from polluting the earth," it said, taking several steps forward.Gasping, Fred stepped back, her hand covering her abdomen to protect her daughter. She reached behind her for the door and opened it, looking at Rupert, reaching out to him, not wanting to leave him behind. When Illyria took another step, however, she practically jumped out to the room. As the door closed behind her, she collapsed against the wall on the other side of the hallway, holding her stomach and crying.
When Illyria started to advance on Fred, Giles quickly stepped in front of his wife again. The demon before him wasn’t going to touch his wife or unborn child. Fred suddenly got out of the room and Giles looked over at Spike.“I got this, mate. Get Fred out of the building,” the vampire said.Giles wasn’t about to question Spike’s motives. All he cared about at the moment was getting Fred out of there. “Ring me if anything happens,” he said before stepping out of room. Fred was against the wall, crying, and he quickly went over to her. “It’s all right, love. I’m getting us out of here. Spike’s taking care of Andre-Illyria.”He led her out of the building, making sure to avoid Gunn and Angel. When they got to the rental car, Giles helped his wife in and then drove off. He needed to be as far away from the firm as possible at the moment. He didn’t know how safe they were going to be.Finally, Giles found a small motel on the outskirts of town and decided to stay there. After parking the car, he glanced at his wife. “Are you feeling all right? We should probably get you some food since you haven’t ate since before we landed last night.”
When Fred felt hands on her, she almost jumped right out of her skin until she heard her husband's voice and realized that it was him touching her. Turning into his arms, she grabbed onto him tightly, letting him get her out of there. She never wanted to see this place again - not only had it taken Angel and Charles and changed them, but it had also taken Andrew. Dear Andrew. She sat in the car, her eyes closed as she tried to keep herself from getting sick as everything ran over and over in her mind. Remembering how that...thing had said in Andrew's voice, even though it was somewhat different, that it killed pregnant women chilled her to bone. When the car stopped, she opened her eyes, looking over at Rupert and taking a deep breath. "I'm...I'm shakey," she admitted. "When that thing said it killed pregnant humans, all I could think of was getting out of there, protecting our daughter. All of the sudden, I didn't care that it was in Andrew. I wanted...wanted someone to kill it before it could kill her." She ran her hand over the swell of her stomach. "Andrew would never...he would have hated..."She reached up and wiped the tears from her eyes. "We have to let the others know what happened. They're going to think we'll be coming back with them, and when we show back up with him, they're going to ask what happened, so they should know before we get there."
When Fred said they needed to call the others, Giles nodded. “We will, love, but first you need to eat something. You haven’t ate since we were on the plane and that’s not healthy, regardless of being pregnant or not.” He glanced out the side window and saw a fast food place across the way. “I’ll get you something to eat and then we’ll ring the others.”Getting out of the car, Giles went to the other side and helped his wife out. They went inside the office and while they were waiting for the man to register them, Giles softly rubbed Fred’s stomach to settle her down. When they went to their room, he told Fred to securely lock the door behind him while he went over to get her something to eat.Giles started to jog over there but stopped when he was hit by a sudden dizzy spell. It seemed his wife wasn’t the only one who needed food and sleep. After getting the food, he brought it back and slipped back into the room with the key. He sat the bag and sodas down on the table and took the food out of the bag. “You don’t have to eat it all, but please try to eat some. You’re looking a bit peaked and I don’t want you getting sick too,” he said as he helped her sit down before sitting across from her. He popped some French fries in his mouth and looked over to make sure she was eating.
While Rupert rubbed her stomach, Fred leaned against him, feeling herself finally beginning to settle down. She still felt a hole in heart from Andrew's death, but the tightness in her throat was finally beginning to loosen. She was thankful her husband was there and knew her so well. After they got to their room, she nodded when he told her to lock the door and, once he was gone, did as he asked. She then walked to the sink right outside the bathroom at the back of the room and turned on the faucet, splashing water on her face. She felt tired and dizzy and wanted to sleep for a week, but she knew that they couldn't. There was still so much to deal with.Straightening up, she ran her hand over her stomach, following the curve. "You're gonna know all about Andrew when you're old enough," she told the baby softly. "He was a good guy."Andrew. Andrea? Andi? She thought about it. "Andi? What do you think about that as a name?" she asked softly. When Rupert came back in, she crossed over to the table and sat down with his help, taking out a burger and one of the containers of fries. The food made her feel a bit sick when she smelled it, but she forced herself to eat, knowing that he was right. And as she ate, she found herself feeling a little better. She knew it would take a while before she felt anywhere near all right again, but the food did help at least physically."I was thinking while you were gone," she said softly, looking over at him. "I want to name the baby after Andrew in some way. Have Andrea in her name, call her Andi. After what he did for us...it's because of him that she's even still going to be born."
Giles was finishing up his French fries, surprised at how hungry he really was, when Fred mentioned naming their daughter after Andrew. His throat tightened at the thought, and he suddenly realized that Andrew was gone. No longer would the younger man be there to keep him company while he was researching, or to tell him some corny joke."That, um, that sound lovely, Fred," he pushed out, his voice filled with emotion. He should've went with them, instead of going with Gunn. If he would've been there, then Knox would've backed off and left Fred alone, and Andrew would still be alive. But, he wasn't. He was gone.Looking over at Fred, the tightening become worse. He couldn't lost his wife and daughter too. He was reminded of the fear he'd felt when Ethan had taken her. Standing, he went over to her and help her stand up. He led her over to the bed and laid her down before sliding in beside her.Giles pulled her closer and buried his face against her hair. "I could've lost the both of you, Fred," he whispered as tears slid down his cheeks.
Fred smiled wanly when Rupert agreed with her idea that they name the baby after Andrew in some way. She wanted to remember him in that way, having something that carried on his name when he couldn't.When her husband stood up and walked over to help her up, she took his hand tightly in hers, leaning against him as he took her over to the bed. Once she was settled and he had slipped in beside her, she pressed against him, closing her eyes. Images from the night before played in her mind, reminding her how close it had been."I know," she whispered, trying to keep her voice from cracking. Reaching up, she rubbed her thumb gently across his cheek, wanting to wipe away his pain as well as his tears. "I'm still here, though. We're both still here."Shifting slightly, she looked up at him for a moment before leaning up to kiss each of his tear tracks. Then she looked into his eyes and kissed him gently on the lips."I love you, Rupert," she told him softly. "I won't let anything separate us, ever. I promise."
Being there with Fred was all Giles wanted at the moment. He knew they needed to figure out what to do with Illyria, but he didn't want to be bothered by it. He wanted to remember Andrew for who he was, and for what he'd done. He didn't want to look at Illyria and see pieces of the young man who had saved his wife and unborn daughter. "I know, love," he murmured as his hand laid on her pregnant stomach.Giles knew they needed to call the others and tell them what had happened. He didn't want to though, hoping maybe all of this had been some awful dream. With a weary sigh, he reached down and took his mobile out of his trouser pocket. "Perhaps I should ring Xander, and you can ring Willow. I'm rather sure Xander's not going to take it well. Andrew and him were close," he quietly said before slipping off the bed. If they did this now, then they could rest for the rest of the night.Walking over to the other side of the room, he sat down at the desk and dialed Xander's number. He wasn't surprised when Martin answered. After asking to speak with Xander, Giles gripped the phone and waited."Hey. What's up Giles?""It's about Andrew. He...he's gone Xander. Knox tried to infect Fred with Illyria but Andrew saved her and got infected instead. He passed away this morning and he's now Illyria," Giles quietly said."Oh, god. D-Did...what's going to happen now?" Xander asked."Spike is taking care of it at the moment. Right now Fred and I are resting and we'll go from there and come home.""Does Willow know?""Fred's going to call her," Giles said. There was a long pause and Xander cleared his throat. "I-I should go," he said, his voice cracking."Night, Xander," Giles said before ringing off.
Fred rested her hand over Rupert's on her stomach, looking at him for a moment before he got out his phone. When he suggested that she call Willow while he spoke to Xander, she nodded. For a moment, she watched him as he rolled off the bed, biting her lip before reaching for her own phone. She stared at it for a moment, then dialed Willow's home number."Hello? Rosenberg-Moore residence," Willow answered."Willow? It's Fred," she said softly."Hey, what's up? Did you find the sarcaphogus? When are you guys coming back?"Swallowing, Fred looked up at the ceiling and covered her stomach with her hand. She could hear her husband speaking to Xander in hushed tones, telling him what had happened, so she just told Willow the same, explaining that they had found the sarcaphogus and what Knox had tried to do and what Andrew had done to save her and the baby."Oh, Goddess," Willow breathed out. "He's...Illyria...?"Fred nodded even though her friend couldn't see her, feeling her throat tightening painfully. "We're not sure what we're going to do. Spike's dealing with him...it now.""I can't believe he's...gone. Andrew. Who's going to make bad Star Trek jokes and bug me about my reports for Giles?""I know," Fred said, tears coming to her eyes again."I...I need to tell Charlotte. She's at the Council at the moment. I need to have her come home and tell her. She should know. And Xander...""Rupert's talking to him now.""I should call him then. I'll...talk to you later?""We'll call you when we get home.""Okay." Willow paused for a moment. "Fred...I'm glad you're okay. You and the baby.""Thanks, Willow. I just wish Andrew was too.""Bye, Fred.""Bye." Hanging up the phone, she looked over at Rupert. "Willow's going to tell Charlotte and call Xander to make sure he's all right, I think." She held her arms open to him, needing to hold her husband again.
While he was waiting for Fred to finish her call, Giles rang Spike and spoke to him for a few moments. The vampire told him Illyria had agreed to allow Spike to guide it. It was the best they could do because Giles knew there was no possible way he'd take Illyria back to England, even if it did look like Andrew. He told Spike he would call as soon as they got back to England and then rang off."Good," he said with a nod. "I just spoke to Spike and he said Illyria is responding to him so I'm going to leave it here. If the Council were to get a hold of Illyria...well, I don't want to think about the sort of destruction they would do."When he saw Fred holding her arms out, Giles went over to her and gathered her into his arms. "It's going to be all right, love," he whispered as his hand laid on her stomach. "We're going home tomorrow. I'm going to get tickets and we're leaving and we aren't ever coming back here again because..."He suddenly stopped talking when he felt a fluttering under his hand. "Was that...is that the baby?" Giles asked as he looked at his wife.
When Rupert told her that Spike would take care of Illyria, Fred nodded, knowing that was probably the best thing to do. She didn't trust the Board getting anywhere near Illyria. They had proven that they would use any means necessary to get what they wanted, even if it meant allying themselves with evil. Best to keep that out of their hands, even if it mean leaving it here. She didn't know Spike very well, but she was sure he wouldn't let Angel and Wolfram and Hart exploit Illyria either. She paused for a moment. Since when had Illyria become an object that could be exploited - it had killed Andrew. But things were never easy and black and white. The people she had once considered the good guys were working for the firm that had tried to kill them multiple times. The organization that was supposed to watch over the girls charged with protecting the world from evil had corruption at the highest levels, despite how hard her husband and friends worked. The thing that had killed their friend needed to be protected in a way to keep from falling in the wrong hands.Taking a deep breath, she snuggled against her husband, nodding when he told her things would be all right. As she listened to him, she suddenly felt her a gentle flutter inside of her and opened her eyes, looking up at Rupert."I think so," she said in amazement. She looked down, feeling the movement, almost like a butterfly's wings again. "That's our daughter, Rupert. That's Andi."Placing her hand over his, she looked up at him again - feeling the baby move was the most wonderful thing that could have happened that night. She was all right. Their baby was okay.Leaning forward, she kissed him.
Giles felt his throat tighten when Fred confirmed that it was the baby moving. Through everything they'd been through, it was like a ray of light for them. Their child was safe, and alive. "I love you," he choked out before Fred kissed him. When the kiss was broken, Giles moved down his wife's body."And I love you too, Andi," he whispered to the bulge on Fred's stomach. He lifted his wife's shirt up and unbuttoned her jeans before running his fingers over the skin of her pregnant stomach. He wanted to be with her at that moment, but, he remembered how they hadn't any rest since the airplane and didn't want to push it. Besides, Giles was sure he was too exhausted to even perform.Moving up Fred's body, he softly kissed her and helped her remove the rest of her clothing. He then removed his and turned off the light, and pulled the blankets over them. Spooning behind her, he placed his hand on her pregnant stomach and sighed. "I love you so much," he whispered in her ear.
After they had spent the night wrapped in each other's arms, holding each other tight, they had gotten up the next morning and made some calls to get tickets on the next available flight to England. Luckily, they were able to get things sorted very quickly and got tickets on a flight leaving later that morning.Since they hadn't unpacked their bags at any point, they didn't need to spend much time getting ready to go, so they showered and changed, and after stuffing their worn clothes into the bags. They stood there for a few moments, trying to decide what to do with Andrew's bag...before finally deciding to take it back with them and deal with it with the rest of his belonging. After calling Xander and Willow to tell them when they'd be back, they then headed to LAX, where they turned the car in.The flight back was uneventful, something Fred was thankful for. After all that was happened, she wasn't sure she could have taken delays or any other problems. Instead, she spent the flight curled up against her husband, flitting between wakefulness and dozing. The baby moved every once and a while, almost as if trying to assure her parents that she was fine. Fred was glad for that.It was very early in the morning by the time the plane arrived at Heathrow, and Fred was glad to step off the plane. She felt like she wanted to sleep for a week when they got home. As they walked out into the International Arrivals area in the terminal, however, Fred suddenly got a funny feeling, and looked around, noticing that Willow wasn't there like she had promised. Then as they walked toward the end of the line, she noticed several people moving toward them. "Rupert..." she said, grabbing his arm. They found themselves surrounded, a man stepping forward. "The Board requests your presence at a meeting. Now."
Giles had noticed the men long before they had moved toward them. He wasn't going to upset Fred by pointing them out since he knew they were from the Council. When they approached him, he merely nodded. "As soon as I'm sure my wife has a way home," he said, before looking around for Willow. When he finally spotted her, he waved her over."Sorry. They said I wasn't supposed to come over," Willow said as she eyed the man."Could you make sure Fred gets home all right? And stay with her?" He asked Willow. She nodded and Giles turned to Fred and hugged her before whispering in her ear. "Don't tell anyone about what happened. I'll be home soon." He pulled back and softly kissed her before following the men out of the airport.Thirty minutes later, Giles was standing in the board room as the board stared him down. "Where's Illyria?" one of them asked."I rather not tell you that information," Giles answered. The board members looked at each other because Travers' nephew stood. "If you refuse to help us, then we have no other choice than to terminate your position," he said."I second the notion," another member stated."All in favor?" Travers asked. Everyone, except for Peter and another member, raised their hands. "All in favor of terminating Mister Giles' wife?" Once again everyone, except for two members, raised their hands as Giles' fist clenched at his side."What about the rest of them? Like the witch and Slayers?" someone asked.Giles stood and watched as the board fired Willow, Xander, Buffy, Martin, Lorne, and Charlotte. He wanted to hit the smug look off Travers' face but stood completely still. He wasn't about to give the prat the satisfaction. "Am I free to go?" he asked."Yes. All of you can come in tomorrow and collect you things from your offices. Then you are not to set foot in this building again," Travers said.Giles didn't acknowledge him. Instead, he turned on his heel and stalked out of the board room. He pulled out his mobile and rang for a taxi to pick him up. Once he rang off, he stepped outside the building and dialed Willow's number. "Willow," he said when she answered. "I need you to get everyone there.""Everyone's here already. We were waiting for Fred and you to come home," she said."Good. Keep them there. I'll be home in about ten minutes," he said before ringing off. And when his taxi showed up, he slipped into it and headed for home.
Fred didn't want to leave Rupert with the people the Board had sent. She didn't trust them, not after everything that had happened, and she didn't like the idea of her husband going to face them alone. She wasn't going to make a scene, though, not there in the middle of Heathrow, so when Rupert told her to go with Willow, she nodded, holding him close. If any of them hurt him, she was going to hurt them, she swore to herself.Watching them walk out of the airport, she felt her heart pounding in her chest and felt her stomach flipping. Willow came over and put an arm around her."He's going to be okay," she told her.Fred bit her lip and took a deep, shuddering breath. They had already been through enough; they didn't need this as well. "He'd better. Otherwise the Board are going to find out what I'm like when I'm really pissed off.""Come on. Let's go back to the house. Everyone else is there, even Buffy and Dawn. They caught the first flight in when I called them," she told her.Nodding, Fred went out with Willow to her car with their bags, and soon they were arriving back at her and Rupert's house. Inside, everyone was indeed waiting. Molly came running up to her, barking and jumping up."Fred!" Martin said, standing up from the couch. "Where's Rupert?""The Board grabbed him at the airport. Said they wanted a meeting," Fred told them as she joined them in the parlor, sitting down in the loveseat. Molly jumped up next to her, resing her head on Fred's lap and whining a little, so she started to scratch behind her ears."What exactly happened in California?" Buffy asked softly. "Andrew's really gone?"Fred nodded. "Rupert wants to be here when we explain everything, though."An uncertain silence fell over the room as they all looked at each other, Fred still worrying about her husband. Part of her wanted to go out to her car and drive over to the Council to find out what was going on. But she knew that Rupert wouldn't have wanted her there."How's the baby?" Charlotte finally asked."She's fine," Fred told her, giving her a soft smile. "Moving a bit now."Suddenly, Willow's cell phone rang, and she answered, speaking to who was obviously Rupert. Fred looked at her when she hung up, feeling her heart pound again."Is he okay? Did he say what happened?"Willow shook her head. "He just wanted us all here. I think he's okay, though. He didn't sound too happy, though.""I wouldn't be either after talking to the Board," Buffy said, crossing her arms."I don't think any of us are going to like what he has to say," Charlotte said softly as they waited for him to get back.
When the taxi pulled up in front of the house, Giles gave the driver some money and get out. He went up to the door and walked in. Molly came out to greet him and he picked the dog up before walking into the parlor. Willow was right, and everyone was there. He nodded and then went over to the loveseat to sit down by Fred."What's going on?" Buffy asked. "What happened to Andrew?"Giles took a deep breath, trying to decide what to tell them first. He slowly told all of them what happened to Andrew, and why. When he was finished with that, he took another deep breath. "As all of you know, I wasn't supposed to go to Los Angeles. The board forbid me from doing so," he said, looking at all of them. "They want to know where Illyria is, but I refuse to tell them. And they fired me.""What? They can't do that!" Dawn suddenly said."They did. And they've fired all of you also," Giles quietly said as he looked down at his lap. He'd let all of them down, and gotten them fired because he didn't want to listen to the board.Molly started to whine and Giles picked her up. "I should let her out. I'm sorry this happened. You can pick up your things from your offices in the morning," he said before walking out of the parlor and to the back door.
Fred felt her throat tighten when Rupert told everyone that he had been fired from the Council. She knew how much work he had put into that place, trying to rebuild it and make sure that the girls were taken care of and trained properly. Oh, god, the girls. What was the Board going to try to do to them now that Giles wasn't there to run interference for them and fight for them? Then he told them that all of them had been fired. Her eyes widening, Fred looked over at everyone before turning to her husband. "Rupert..." she started to say before he got up and walked to the back of the house."He thinks its his fault," Buffy said softly, her hands clenched down by her sides. "Stupid, selfish bastards..."Without a word, Fred pushed herself up from the couch just as Lorne put a hand out to stay her for a moment. "Are you going to be all right, Freddles?" he asked. "If you need one of--."She shook her head. "No. He's my husband. I should be there for him."She walked out of the parlor and headed to the back of the house to find Rupert by the back door. "Hey," she said, putting her hand on his shoulder. "It's not your fault, you know. No one in there blames you. We all supported you in this because it was the right thing to do, and if the Council is so stuck up its own ass that it can't see the harm it's doing, then we're better off fighting this on our own.She wrapped her arms around him and pressed her cheek to her arm, closing her eyes for a moment. "You and the others have said before that you had to go it on your own. We'll do it again."
Giles sighed when his wife walked into the kitchen. He was hoping to have a few minutes to himself but knew he wouldn't send her away. She was only trying to help him. "I'm not..." he started but stopped. There was part of him that blamed himself for this. If only he'd left Andrew and Fred in England instead of taking them with him."I just...I'm tired, Fred. I don't want to talk about this right now. Besides, there's nothing else to say. We've been through this before, and in the morning we'll go and get our things and decide what to do. I just can't do it now," Giles quietly said before he opened the door open. Molly came in and he picked her up.Turning, he walked down the foyer and went to the foyer. Everyone turned and looked at him. "We can finish discussing this tomorrow morning, after we've cleaned out our offices. Right now, I want to spend some time with my wife, and dog," he said before walking out.He went up the stairs and to the bedroom he shared with Fred.
Fred bit her lip and nodded when Rupert said he was tired. She hadn't actually been suggesting they do anything right then - they needed time to deal with this and with Andrew's death before they even started thinking about what they were going to do next. She just wanted to assure him that she knew they could do it.Before she could explain that to him, though, he had let Molly in and then turned to go back to the parlor. She trailed behind, watching him tell the others they'd talk more tomorrow before he headed upstairs."He's going to be all right? Isn't he?" Willow asked softly."He needs time, you guys," Fred told them. She knew how much all of them depended on her husband, but right now he needed to work his own feelings on this. "Just...""You don't need to explain," Xander said, giving her a hug. "We'll see you tomorrow, okay?"She nodded and waited in the foyer while everyone get their coats and headed out. Lorne gave her a hug as well, promising her that everything would be okay in the long run. Once they had all left, she closed the front door and locked it before heading upstairs to the bedroom."Rupert?" she said softly when she walked in. Not knowing what to say, she just opened her arms to him. "We don't have to talk."
After leaving the rest of them in the foyer, Giles went upstairs and to the bedroom he shared with Fred. He pulled a set of pajamas out and went to the loo to wash his face before changing. No matter what he did, he couldn't push away the pang of guilt he felt. Giles knew it wasn't his fault but he still felt bad. Andrew was gone, and he was never going to see him again. And to top it off, he had lost his job again. When Fred walked in, and held out her arms to him, Giles went to her and wrapped his arms around her body. "I know it's not my fault but I can't stop feeling guilty about things," he murmured as he tightened his grip on her. He finally pulled back and looked down at her, his fingers tracing her neck. "I'm glad Andi and you are all right, though. And I'm sorry you lost your job. I suppose I could be tragically romantic and say I should have never asked you to come here but, I'm selfish and I'm glad you are here. Even if we're unemployed. Guess it'll give us more time to spend together," he said before he softly kissed her.Taking her hand, he led her over to the bed and pulled her down with him. "Thank you for being here, love," he said before nuzzling her neck as his hands softly caressed her body.
"I know," Fred whispered, holding Rupert tight. There had been times when things had happened that she couldn't help but blame herself for even though there had been nothing she could do - like Wesley dying and Angelus escaping. It was hard not to blame yourself in situations like that, especially when it meant that you had lost someone you cared about. She looked up into his eyes when he finally loosened his grip on her a bit, shuddering a bit at the caress of her finger on her neck. "Rupert, I don't care that I lost the job. I care more about the fact that I'm with you," she told him after they kissed. "And I think spending more time together is very definitely a good thing, no matter what happened."She let him draw her over and onto the bed, snuggling up against him, her eyes closing as his hands roamed over her body. It had been a while since they had been together, and she moaned softly at his touch. "You don't ever have to thank me. I'm your wife, and it's what wives do. I love you, Rupert."Wrapping her arms around him, she ran her hand up and down his back a few times before moving up to tangle in his hair.
Giles continued to caress his wife, his body relaxing when she started to caress him back. He needed her so much. “Fred,” he whispered as his lips moved to her neck. He softly kissed her there as his hand slipped down and laid where their daughter was growing. His wife was perfect.Moving down, he started to slowly unbutton her shirt. When it was opened, he ran his hands over her soft skin. His hands cupped her breasts, which were filling out from her pregnancy. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispered. He needed to touch her to know she was really there. He needed to feel her. His thumbs swiped over her nipples and he groaned when they hardened.Giles slipped his hands under her back and unclasped her bra. He carefully pulled it off her. Leaning down, he softly licked one nipple to attention before moving over to the other one. He then started to lay a trail of kisses down her body, stopping when he got to her stomach. “I love you, Andi,” he whispered to his unborn daughter. He moved down and undid Fred’s pants, and carefully pulled them, and her panties off. When she was completely naked, he looked down at her, his hand brushing through her hair. “I need you, Fred,” Giles whispered before he leaned down to kiss her, his erection pressing against the zipper of his trousers.
Gasping softly, Fred arched into her husband's touch, feeling her need for him sparking and building into a slow burn. It had been a while, and they had lost so much, but they had each other, and they needed to keep hold of that. She wanted so badly just to be with him and forget everything else, even if it was only for a little while. She helped him get her shirt and bra off, moaning when he teased her nipples. She wasn't sure, but it seemed the pregnancy had made everything so much more sensitive. Every touch was like an electric spark, adding more to the fire burning inside her. By the time he got her out of her pants, she was throbbing and could feel him pressed against her through the fabric of his trousers. "I need you too. Always will," she whispered.Fumbling slightly from her arousal, she unbuttoned Rupert's shirt and pushed it off him before reaching down to undo his pants. She pushed them down over his hips along with his boxers, then took hold of his erection, brushing her thumb gently over the tip.Kissing him, she shifted underneath him and guided him into her, letting out a low whimper. "Oh God...Rupert..."
Giles let out a content sigh when Fred undressed him. He laid there for a moment, allowing the coolness of the room to wash over him. It almost took the numbness away. He looked up at his wife and groaned when she took his cock into her hand. Her touch was so familiar, and sure, and it drove him mad. And, when she led him into her warmth, Giles hissed in pleasure."My Fred," he murmured as he stilled himself. He wanted to hold her against him but was afraid of hurting their daughter. Instead, he leaned over and softly kissed her as he held himself up with his arms. His thrusts started out painfully slow. Being with Fred made his heart sing and washed the coldness he'd felt since Andrew's death. She was his light, the only person in the world that could make him feel warmth in the coldest of situations. With a grunt, he locked eyes with her and started to thrust into her harder.Giles could feel himself nearing his release. When he had started this, he knew he wasn't going to last long. Waves of pleasure ran up his spine and he continued to look down at his wife. He had always loved her facial expression when they made love. And suddenly, without warning, Giles cried out Fred's name and spilled himself into her.
Any time Rupert called her his, Fred felt a flutter in her heart. She had hated being owned on Pylea, was made to seem less than nothing, but with Rupert, she knew that she was everything to him. Being his meant so much, and she knew that at the same time, he belonged to her, body and heart and mind. He was her Rupert and always would be.They owned each other, and she wouldn't have it any other way.Pulling her legs up, she moaned softly as Rupert began thrusting into her. She could tell he was being careful because of the baby, but even so, it was still an intense moment, especially as she looked into his eyes. She felt him quickening, and her breath caught in her throat as she wrapped her arms under his and held onto his shoulders. Because of her growing belly, she couldn't move the way she normally did, but still she arched up slightly, meeting him as she felt her muscles tensing, everything tightening. When she felt Rupert's release flood her as he orgasmed, she began to tremble, knowing she was close, and finally a few moments later, she came with a cry, shuddering."G--god," she breathed out when she was able to speak again, looking up at him. Raising her head, she gave him a soft kiss before reaching up to caress his cheek. "My wonderful husband."
Before he fell on top of her, Giles quickly caught himself with his arms. He didn't want to hurt her, or the baby so he hovered above her while they kissed. When they parted, he grinned down at her. "You're more wonderful than I am, love," he whispered to her. After a few moments, he carefully slipped out of her and laid beside her. He nudged her to her side so he could spoon behind her.A comfortable silence fell upon the room as Giles slowly rubbed his wife's pregnant belly in small circles. There was a lot on his mind, and he knew the next day would be busy. Along with cleaning out their offices, he would have to call his father and tell him the news. Even though he was no longer part of the Council, the elder Giles still had a lot of pull there. But, all of that could wait until morning. Giles rather liked not thinking about the Council, especially when he had his beautiful wife in his arms. "Love you, Fred," he murmured in her ear as his hands ran up her body and to her full breasts. His thumb swiped over his nipples, and he smiled against the skin of her shoulder when they hardened under his touch.Giles then moved his hand down her body and carefully placed her leg over his. With her open to him, he dipped his hand between her legs and lazily rubbed her clit as he felt his cock start to harden again.
Fred blushed as she looked up at her husband. He really had no idea how wonderful he truly was, especially when he said things like that. When he pulled out of her, she let out a soft whimper at the loss but soon was happily settled in his arms. It felt so nice when he caressed her this way, and reaching up, she stroked his arm gently. Part of her wished that they could just forget the world for a while. After everything that had happened, they deserved it, especially since she knew neither of them were looking forward to what would be waiting for them in the morning.Apparently, Rupert had the same idea because his hands were suddenly on her breasts as he whispered in her ear, telling her that he loved her. She let out a shudder, closing her eyes and pressing back against him."I love you too," she told him softly while his hand moved down, opening her up to him. "Oh God, Rupert..."Moaning as he rubbed her, she felt her body beginning to tighten again. She grabbed the headboard of the bed, her hips bucking slightly against his hand, riding his movements."Gonna...ohhhh...Rupert..." she gapsed as she started to tremble, feeling herself letting go.
Giles always loved the way his wife responded to his touches. All the little noises she made turned him on, as did knowing he was making her feel that way and no one else could. He rubbed her faster with tight circles around her clit. Giles wanted to feel her shudder in his arms and when she got closer to coming, he pulled her closer. "Let go, love," he whispered. When she came, he groaned as her body pressed against his erection. Giles continued to hold his wife until she settled in his arms. "You're beautiful," Giles said as he nuzzled her neck. His hand ran over her thigh and he pulled it further back, his cock aching to be inside of her. Nibbling on her neck, he slowly pushed himself inside of her."Bloody hell," he hissed as he filled her to the hilt. She was so warm and so wet.Giles didn't move at first but after a moment, he started to slowly thrust in her. He placed a hand on her pregnant belly and softly rubbed it in time with his thrust. He was so turned on and he knew he wasn't going to last long. Quickening his thrusts, he groaned in her ear and let out a strangle cry as he spilled himself inside of her.
As Fred's body slowly stopped trembling, she felt her husband nuzzle her neck and shuddered a bit, any touch to her skin almost overwhelming. A moment later, he was pushing into her from behind, causing her to gasp as she pressed back against him."Oh God," she moaned. It felt so different when he took her from behind, and in some ways, it was even more intimate than when they were face to face because although she couldn't see him, she could feel him wrapped her. She brought her hand up and back to cup her hand to the back of his head. She began trembling again, especially since his hand on her belly was almost too much along with the feel of him inside her, and when he came, she felt herself spasming around him and let out a soft whimper.Closing her eyes, she tried to catch her breath. After a few moments, she turned her head, touching it to Rupert's, knowing that neither of them needed to say a word after that.
After several long moments of silence, Giles slowly pulled his limp cock out of his wife. He carefully nudged her over so he could hold her in his arms. “I love you so much, Fred. Thank you for everything you’ve brought to me,” Giles whispered before softly capturing her lips. It was getting late and he knew they needed to eat and get some sleep. After a light dinner, they went to bed and Giles fell into a restless sleep. He thought he’d be more tired but he woke up several times during the night, most of the time in fear that Fred wouldn’t be there. Knowing she almost died, unsettled him more than when Ethan had taken her. He knew Ethan would never kill someone, but the people at Wolfram and Hart would.Giles was awake when the sun came up and sighed. In a few hours they had to go to the Council and get their things. He didn’t know what he was going to do with his time now. Slipping out of the bed, he pulled the covers over Fred and walked down to the study. He had to ring his father and tell him what happened. He knew the senior Giles wouldn’t be upset with him, but he still wasn’t looking forward to it.
When Fred woke up a short time later, she found her husband downstairs, and after holding him for several minutes, they realized they had to get ready. So once they had showered and got dressed, they headed to Council headquarters to retrieve their belongings. Both of them were accompanied by people that Fred had never seen before - no doubt they had just been hired by the Board because none of them would have ties or loyalty to any of them. Fred didn't want to leave Rupert, no trusting what they might do to either of them if they were separated, so she helped him get his things before they headed down to the lab. When they walked in, her staff...her old staff...looked up at them, watching as they went to her old office. She was sure all of them were salivating at the idea of being promoted in her place. Martin was the only one she had been comfortable trusting - how things had started between them didn't matter anymore.Quickly, she grabbed everything and stuck them in the bag she had brought along. She was rather glad that she had taken her laptop with her before they had left for California as she was rather sure that the Board wouldn't have wanted her to have that. Once she finished, she took Rupert's hand, and they were escorted outside. They found the others all waiting out by their cars, including Lorne, who had all of his belonging in his carsince he had been living in the dormitory with the Slayers."You going to be all right?" Fred asked him softly after hugging him. "You need a place to stay?""I'm fine, Freddles. Xander's moving in with Martin, so I'm moving into his flat. It'll all be fine." He ruffled her hair affectionately. "How about you two?""We'll be okay. We just need to figure out what we're going to do now."
Giles had promised his father he wouldn't hit anyone at the Council. It was a promise he knew he had to keep since his father had told him he was going to call a few contacts and tell them what was going on. Even if the Council was filled with a bunch of prats, it didn't mean he needed to be one too. And the promise was the only thing keeping Giles from throttling the 'security guards' sent to watch them as they cleaned out their offices. After they were finished, they met out in the parking lot. "We've made arrangements for Andrew's funeral," Charlotte said as she took Willow's hand. "You've been through enough and you need to concentrate on each other and your daughter.""Thank you," Giles quietly said as one of the security guards walked up."You have five minutes to vacate Council property or the authorities will be called," the man said.Giles clench his fists and was tempted to hit the other man. Before he could step forward, Buffy had already knocked the man to the ground. "Buffy," Giles said, looking at his Slayer. She turned and winced a little. "Nicely done."Xander snorted a little and Martin started to giggle as Giles placed his hand on the small of his wife's back. "We'll ring you when we've gotten everything settled," Martin said. "Go home and rest. You two deserve it."Giles merely nodded and took Fred to his car. Once she was inside, he started the engine and headed for their house.
Andrew's funeral was sad but beautiful. Like Cordelia's memorial, they held it outside, but they decided to go down to the coast for it since apparently Andrew had told Xander he'd always wanted to retire to a beach somewhere if he could. Willow had mumbled something about that being their plans, but Fred hadn't been sure who she was referring to and didn't want to ask since the thought of whatever it was obviously caused her friend pain. So they went down to Sussex, and found a nice stretch of beach on the English Channel, remembering Andrew. After they returned, life had to go on even though they were no longer working for the Council. They weren't completely sure what they were going to do. They discussed reforming the Scoobies as their own group to fight evil the way they had. But after awhile, the discussion had been tabled as it was obvious that none of them were ready quite yet.So instead, they focused on things closer to home. Xander and Martin were setting up household together while Lorne moved into Xander's old flat. And Fred and Rupert decided it was time to start getting the nursery ready for Andi. The baby wasn't due for several more months, but they knew it was probably better to use the time when they had it."What do you think of this?" Fred asked, holding up a set of curtains with purple and green and a bit of pink but not enough to be overwhelming. "It'll match the color the guys are painting the walls.""That's cute. Doesn't really scream baby, though," Willow said."I don't really want it to be just for a baby. It's going to be Andi's room for a long time, and we're not going to have a lot of time to redecorate, I'm sure."Charlotte reached down and picked up two packages of curtains. "I think it's perfect. We should find the matching duvet set for it while we're at it; otherwise it's going to be gone by the time Andi's old enough.""What do you think the guys are doing right now?" Willow asked. "Think Giles and Xander are fighting over team leader rights since Giles is the daddy and Xander is the carpenter?"Fred shook her head. "Goodness knows. I just hope they manage to get the room painted and the crib and furniture put together."
"You're doing it wrong. It should be screwed the other way," Xander said as he pointed his bottle of beer at the rocking chair Giles was putting together. "If you put it together that way, Fred'll fall right outta it!"Giles looked at the rocking chair and then took off his glasses. He took a drink of the bottle he was holding before examining the chair again. "It looks all right to me," he said. He stumbled up from the floor, glaring at Lorne when he snickered, and sat down on the chair. "See? Perfectly all right." He started to rock in it but stopped when he heard something crack. And before he could move, the rocking chair collapsed on him."Yes, good job!" Martin said from where he was mixing paint.Giles glared at all of them. He didn't see why they had to be there. He was capable of putting the nursery together by himself. Although, it was nice to have the company. And Xander did get the crib and dresser together before they started drinking. And Martin had gotten most of the walls painted, even though the color looked more maroon than purple. Fred was going to be so proud of them!"I'll just buy a new one," Giles said, pulling himself up. "Before Freddles gets home?" Lorne asked from where he was standing and putting the clothes into the dresser."No need!" Giles said with a grin. "I tested it and saved her from getting hurt. She'll see me as a hero.""Or a moron," Xander muttered before ducking out of the way of Giles.Giles stumbled over to where Lorne was standing and looked at the clothes. "The baby is going to be awfully small! These could properly fit Molly," he said before finishing off his ale."No, I think Molly's too big for them," Martin commented."Want to make a bet?" Giles asked. Martin nodded and all of them called for the dog to come into the nursery. When she got there, Molly went right to Giles. He picked her up and placed her on top of the dresser. "We're going to do a little experiment. Just hold still, love," he said as Lorne picked out a red onesie. After a lot of grunting, and whining (Xander had stubbed his toe on the crib again), Molly had the onesie on her. At least they'd put it on backwards so the snaps were on her back and her tail could come out through one of the slots. Giles grinned and placed the dog on the floor, and before he could say anything, she had ran out of the room."I think you owe me some money," he said to Martin as Lorne handed him another beer. "Oh, thank you. You make a wonderful host, even if this is my house."Lorne nodded and started to hum a song, and soon all four of them were singing.
