Continued from here.Fred shivered slightly as Rupert removed her soaked clothes, letting them fall to floor with wet sploshes. She tried to pull up on his shirt, but when his hands started running over her skin, she moaned, especially when he kneeled in front of her, his tongue finding her clit. With a soft cry, she grabbed his shoulders to stay upright. She was very definitely beginning to warm up, electrical sensations tingling throughout every part of her body."Oh, God," she whimpered when he delved back between her legs after asking what she wanted. She tugged at him, pulling him up and grasping his sweater to pull it off before reaching for his jeans to unbuckle them and push them down with his boxers."Want you inside me," she told him, pulling him closer to kiss him. "Against the wall. Won't be able to do that soon, so want to do it now."
Giles narrowed his eyes when he saw Henry had a handful of Fred's hair in his hands. He wanted to scold the baby but bit his tongue and went into the dining room. He rolled his eyes when he noticed Peter and Evelyn made no effort to help Fred with their son. And he glared even more when the little monster threw peas at her."He's not old enough to eat on his own, is he?" Giles asked as he squeezed Fred's hand back."I haven't a clue," Evelyn as she took a sip of her wine. "The nanny usually feeds him." She then turned to Fred and looked her over. "When you give birth, I'll give you the number of a wet nurse. It'll eliminate the need for you to breastfeed. I didn't breastfeed and kept my figure." She winked at Fred and went to cutting up her meat.Giles took a deep breath and looked at Peter. "What can you tell us about the meeting?" he asked as Henry started to scream at the top of his lungs."Can this wait until after dinner?" Peter asked, doing nothing to shut his son up.Giles shook his head. He didn't want to stay there that long. "We can only stay for dinner then we have to go home. Early day tomorrow," Giles said, hoping Fred would follow his lead."Well, it was just a typical meeting. Lawrence was patted on the back by some members and other members just glared at him. Everything they talked about, you already know. Although, they were upset you didn't show," Peter said, just as Henry was about to throw some mashed potatoes."Stop!" Giles said, grabbing the baby's hand. "Here." He picked up his spoon and filled it with mashed potatoes before holding it up for the boy. Henry stopped screaming and happily took the bite of food.
Fred almost spit out her water when Evelyn said that she didn't even know if her own son could eat on his own. And then she mentioned giving her the number of a wet nurse. No wonder the little boy was a holy terror. Did this woman do anything with Henry? She wanted to ask if she had also got someone else to carry him and give birth to him but held her tongue as Rupert asked about the Board meeting instead. Peter was one of their allies - apparently - and she didn't want to alienate him by being a bitch to his wife.Instead, she nodded at Rupert's comment that they needed to head home after dinner because they had an early day the next day. "We have a meeting with an exclusive primary school. Have to sign up before the baby is even born," she told Evelyn, suppressing a smile at seeing Evelyn's face drop slightly. The fact that some of the board members seemed pleased by what had happened to her made the smile drop right off her face, and suddenly, she wanted very much to go home even though they were in the middle of dinner. She looked over at her husband, her smile returning slightly when she saw the way Rupert was handling Henry. She had been worrying about their own child acting the way Henry did, but seeing him with the baby, she knew that theirs would be very different - because she was going to breastfeed, and there wasn't going to be a nanny to everything for them. They were going to be a part of their child's life, not just when it was convenient or time to show off."They've agreed to another meeting on Monday morning. I don't know how well it's going to go, though," Peter said as they continued eating though Fred found herself more picking at her food, which was almost unheard of for her. "Some of the members have been making excuses for Lawrence and Travers' nephew. You'll want to watch out.""Fred, dear, you've hardly touched your food," Evelyn exclaimed. She put her fork down. "I'm sorry. I just...haven't been feeling well the last few days. Morning sickness and all.""Oh, I didn't have that at all."Fred looked down so she didn't glare a hole in Evelyn's head.
Giles had to suppress a snort when Fred lied to Evelyn about primary school. He knew they wouldn't have to worry about the baby's education since his parents still had connections with the primary school he had attended and he was quite sure they probably had already enrolled the baby. Giving his wife an amused look, he went back to feeding Henry as Peter spoke."I don't care what the board has or doesn't have, Peter. They need to know that using my wife as a means to break me will not be tolerated," he grumped as Henry pushed the spoon away.Giles then looked at his wife, noticing she had hardly touched her food. Frowning, he was about to ask her what was wrong when Evelyn butted in. He could tell Fred was getting uncomfortable so he reached over and pressed the back of his hand to her forehead. "Fred, love, you feel a bit warm," he lied. "You must be coming down with that virus.""I was never sick when I was pregnant. It ruins the baby if you're sick," Evelyn stated with a smug look."Evelyn, do shut up," Peter said with a sigh.Giles stood from the table and helped Fred stand up. "I'm must apologize but I should get Fred home," he said."Just call the Council doctor," Evelyn said. "She can sleep it off in one of the guest rooms.""No, I rather take care of her myself," Giles said as he turned around and started to walk Fred to the door.
When Rupert pressed his hand to her forehead and said she was feeling warm, Fred wanted to kiss him, knowing that he was trying to get them out of there gracefully. She played along and gave him a nod although her fist clenched beneath the table when Evelyn started in on her perfect pregnancy again. She wanted to tell her off, but Peter did that for her in a way, obviously as pissed off with her as she and Rupert were. She instead allowed her husband to help her up, shaking her head with Evelyn tried to get them to stay."I'd rather you take me home as well," she said softly, leaning into Rupert as he walked her toward the door."I hope you feel better, Fred," Peter told her. "And I really am sorry for what happened to you. To both of you.""Thank you," she replied.Evelyn looked like she wanted to say something but then Henry started screaming, having been left alone in the dining room, so she ran in to deal with him. Fred looked up at Rupert, and after saying goodbye to Peter, they headed outside to the car."What on earth does Peter see in that witch?" she asked in disbelief once the door was safely shut behind them.
"Thank you, Peter," Giles said as he helped Fred out of the door. When it shut behind them and she asked her question, Giles sighed and led her to the car and got her inside before going around to his side. Once he was inside the car, and buckled in, he started the car and pulled out of the driveway."Funny story that is," he said in reference to Evelyn and Peter. "Evelyn's family has been part of the Council for generations. Her father and Wesley's father were best mates, and at one time Wesley was to marry her, but I don't believe he knew that. Anyway, when he was fired from the Council, there was a bit of a scramble to find Evelyn a suitable suitor. Peter seemed like a good choice, even though Evelyn and him are distant cousins."He turned off onto the side road that would take them to their house. "Marrying distant cousins isn't unheard of within the Council circles. Some believe it's the best way to keep the organization tight and safe. It's a bit disgusting if you ask me," he said, glancing over at his wife. When they arrived at the house, Giles killed the engine and looked at her. "Something's wrong, isn't it? You barely ate anything. Are you not feeling well?" he asked as he brushed her hair back.
Fred listened as Rupert told her about Evelyn's family and how Wesley was supposed to marry her originally - and he hadn't known. Her eyes opened wide in amazement. "They...they actually arrange Council marriages too?" she said softly, shaking her head. It should haven't surprised her really, given everything she had seen and been told. "I'm sorta relieved she never got her hooks into Wesley. I'd hate to think of him having to put up with her!"The fact that Peter and Evelyn were distant cousins didn't surprise her much under the circumstances. She knew many royal lines did the same thing - Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip were distant cousins through Queen Victoria. And the Council in some ways seemed to be - or at least consider itself - as important as the Royal family. She looked over at Rupert, thinking about how different he was from so many of the other "Old Guard" Watchers. "You--did your parents...they didn't try to arrange a marriage for you, did they?" Her in-laws didn't seem the type, but she was curious, especially knowing what she did know about his past. When they arrived at the house, she shrugged slightly and leaned into his touch. "Peter's comment about the Board kinda got to me. The fact that some of the board members were actually proud of what what Lawrence got Ethan to do to me...it--it didn't sit to well with me. And with Evelyn being such a bitch, I just wasn't in the mood to eat." She looked at him. "I'm sorry. I know Peter is supposed to be our ally in all this."
Giles frowned when Fred told him what was bothering her. He'd been so wrapped up in trying to get them information on how to handle the board, he'd forgotten she had suffered the most. "I'm sorry, love," he whispered, his fingers tracing over her face. "I know this probably won't make you feel better but it's how the board works. Try not to let it bother you."There was soft mist beginning to form in the air so Giles unbuckled himself and opened his car door. He went around to Fred's side and helped her out. "Lets get you inside where it's warm," he said, taking her hand. They went up to the front door and Giles unlocked it before opening it up.Molly greeted them and sniffed at their feet. "Why don't you head upstairs and lie down? I'll bring some hot chocolate and biscuits up and we can spend the rest of the evening in bed," he suggested as Molly started to whine. "And I'll let Molly out while I'm in the kitchen."He shooed his wife upstairs and headed toward the kitchen with Molly on his heels.
Fred closed her eyes for a moment as Rupert's fingers gently caressed over her face. "I'm trying. It just--I think Evelyn put me in a bad mood, so hearing that on top of it all didn't help."Part of her wanted to make every single member of that board experience exactly what she had been through and see how much they liked it, but she knew that would make her just as bad as them. Her husband was right - she just had to not let it bother her and show that she and he were strong. They weren't going to let anything come between them or tear them apart. She squeezed his hand once he helped her out of the car to go inside the house. "Thank you for what you did, getting us out of there," she told him softly. It meant so much to her that he would do things like that for her.Once they were inside, she nodded at his suggestion that she head upstairs, so she gave him a kiss and walked up to the bedroom where she got into her nightgown. Snuggling down under the covers, she rested her hand on her stomach."Peter and Evelyn should have never been parents," she told their unborn baby. "But I know your father is going to be so good to you, and we're going to be the best parents we can be."
Giles let Molly out before he started on the hot chocolate. He boiled the milk and added the cocoa mix to some cups. After placing some marshmallows, and oatmeal biscuits on a tray, he let Molly in and then placed the cups on the tray. With Molly following behind him. When they got to the room, Molly jumped up onto the bed as Giles sat the tray on the dresser. He smiled at his wife. "You're so beautiful," he whispered before he pulled a clean pair of pajamas out of the dresser. Giles quickly changed, throwing his clothes in the hamper before picking up a cup of hot chocolate. He handed it to Fred before going back to retrieve the plates of biscuits and marshmallows. Placing the plates on the bed, Giles chuckled when he saw Molly sniffing at the plate. "Here," he said, handing her one of the biscuits. "Not on the bed though." The puppy listened and took it to the floor to eat.Once Giles had his own cup of hot chocolate, he got into bed and looked at Fred. "Feeling better, love?" he asked.
Fred smiled up at her husband when he came into the room with the tray. "You're pretty handsome yourself," she told him, watching while he changed into his pajamas. She knew she'd never tire of the sight of him and realized how lucky she had been to find him. He made her feel like the most special woman in the world, especially when he brought her hot chocolate and oatmeal cookies in bed.Sitting up, she took the cup he offered her once he was done changing, closing her eyes and inhaling the warm fragrance. When she opened her eyes again, she couldn't help but laugh at Molly's investigation of the plate of cookies."We spoil her," she told Rupert. "Not every dog that gets to eat oatmeal cookies, even if it is on the floor."When he sat down on the bed with her and asked if she was all right, she nodded and took a sip of her drink. "I am. Was thinking that the best revenge we can get against the jerks on the Board that like what Lawrence did is to show them just how much that's not going to work." She looked down at herself for a moment. "I was also telling our son and daughter that we're not going to be anything like Peter or Evelyn. I was actually feeling sorry for Henry by the time we left."
